  • Onion (medium size chopped) 1
  • Garlic (chopped) 4-5 cloves
  • Tomato paste 2-3 tbsp
  • Cooking oil 1/2 cup
  • Mustard seeds//Meethi dana  1/4 tsp
  • Black seeds//kalongi   1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds//rai dana  1/4 tsp
  • Fennel seeds//sonf 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds//sabut dhaniya 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds//zeera 1 tsp
  • Caraway seeds//ajwain  1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Salt (acording to taste)
  • Whole red chillies 4



Cooking method of Achari Arvi//Arbi;


2nd Authentic Strategy: 

  • To keep taro from being viscid, store it in pungent water for quite a while subsequent to stripping off and afterward wash scouring it with flour.
  • Then roast all the ingredients of  Achari masala/spices such as coriander,cumin,fennel and caraway seeds.

  • Add chopped onion when garlic is light brown.
  • When onion is fried a bit,add salt,red chilli powder & turmeric powder.
  • Continuously & slightly stir the spoon and add tomato paste.
  • Fried all the ingredient well on medium flame for 5-6 minutes.
  • When masala color is changed and give specific aroma,add Arvi//taro in the pan.
  • Mix and cook the Arvi with masala for 2-3 minutes more.
  • In the last, add grinded achari masala ingredients in the pan and mix & fried with masala.
  • Add one glass of water.
  • Cover & cook the Arvi//Arbi// Taro for 15-20 minutes.
  • After 15-20 minutes later,Arvi//Arbi is ready to serve.
  • So dish it out and serve with chapati.
