Jagger is brown sugar which is usually made from sugarcane.Jggery effectively cleans the lungs,food pipes and lungs. In subcontinent, jagger is as taken to digest food after dinner or lunch.It is also used as ingredients in sweet dishes like sweet rice/Gur ky chawal and sweet or Mithai etc.Now a days jaggery is used as ingredients in Cake etc. Gur ka chawal very easy & delicious recipe in winter season specially in India and Pakistan.Only two basic ingredients rice & jaggery is used in this recipe.Dry fruits/nuts make it more nutritious.Desi ghee increase its flavour more. It is very easy to make Jaggery rice.First Gur or jaggery is melted with water and syrup is prepared.Then boiled basmati/sella rice addded & cooked with this syrup on medium flame.Nuts & desi ghee aded to increase its flavour.

Ingredients;

  • Jaggery Rice 500 gm
  • (prepare jaggery syrup with 1 cup water)
  • Basmati rice 500 gm
  • Ghee 1/2 cup
  • Cloves 5
  • Cardamom 5
  • Raisins & coconut (for garnishing)

How to prepare recipe;

  • Heat the ghee in the pan.
  • Add cloves & cardamom
  • saute cloves & cardamom till it fragrant & light brown.
  • then add coconut,raisins and fry a bit.
  • Then pour the Jaggery syrup little by little in it.
  • Now put boiled basmati rice  with rest of the ingredients & pour 
  • rest of syrup over the rice.
  • Mix the ingredient with basmati rice well.
  • cook syrup with rice on high flame for 8-10 minutes.
  • when syrup get dried,cover & steam rice on low flame for 15-20 min.
  • After 15 min the rice get steam & ready to serve.
